Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Ephesians 5:20 (KJV)

It’s easy to give thanks to the Lord when everything is going well in your life.  But what about those times when things happen that are not in your favor.  Do you still give thanks to the Lord?

According to Ephesians 5:20, the answer is yes.  The verse states that you give thanks always for all things, regardless if things are going well or not for you. But how do you give thanks when things are not going well?  The answer is you give thanks for the good things.  For example, if you are unable to pay rent for the month, you don’t give thanks because you can’t pay the rent. Instead, you give thanks for your health, your family, or your job.  By giving thanks, you can change the atmosphere.  You are trusting the Lord that He will see you through the circumstance.

It may be hard for you to give thanks when things don’t go your way, but you need to make a conscious effort to do so. Recruit an accountability person to help you stay in the thanksgiving spirit.  Know that God will be pleased with your thanksgiving attitude and He will bless you.  Amen.
